Choosing your field of study

List of available fields of study

Masaryk University is divided into 9 faculties. Each of the faculties offers several study programmes, which are further divided into individual fields of study. First-time university students usually choose from Bachelor’s degree fields of study, or occasionally there are Master’s degree fields of study which take more years to complete. A complete list of all the programmes and fields can be found at this page: www.muni.cz/admission/programmes/bachelor/

Having successfully completed your Bachelor’s degree studies, you can continue studying in a follow-up Master’s programme. To see the list of follow-up programmes and fields, visit http://www.muni.cz/admission/programmes/masters/?lang=en. To see the courses offered in each field, visit http://is.muni.cz/predmety/?lang=en.

Choosing your field of study

  1. Pay attention to the Bachelor’s degree and five-year Master’s degree study fields. Look for one which interests you and you would like to study it.
  2. It is recommended to take sufficient time choosing a field of study, and not to rely exclusively on information from friends and acquaintances who are already studying.
  3. The faculties’ open days are a good way to get the information you need about the options for your studies. You can also visit the Teiresias Centre, whose employees are available to help you choose your field of study.
  4. If you are interested in visiting any of the faculties’ open days, contact us at studijni@teiresias.muni.cz. We can advise you about finding a way to your faculty, and provide
  • assistance in case it is difficult for you to navigate a new place without help, or
  • an interpreter (Czech Sign Language) or a visualizer (sign language, mouthing service).
