With regard to my experience with assistive technology for the blind, I, inter alia, participated in two International Computer Camps in 1996 (Austria) and 1998 (France). In 2002, I tought two workshops during the ICC held in Loughborough (Great Britain). Country: the Czech Republic E-mail: radim.charvat@tiscali.cz Co-tutor: Svatoslav Ondra Description: Main purpose of this workshop Is to tell the students what Internet basicaly is, introduce them the structure and various elements of a web-page (such as, links, check boxes, edit fields, tables, frames etc.) and to show them how to efficiently browse web-pages with Internet Explorer with the assistance of screen-reader called Jaws for Windows. Participants will learn useful hotkeys both of Internet Explorer and Jaws for Windows. Aims: After completion of this workshop, the students should know how to easily navigate web-pages which should help them to get better in using Internet in their everyday life. Students Pre-requisites: There are no special pre-requisites for participants of this workshop. However, the students should have general (at least minimum) experience with using Jaws. Hardware: - appropriate count of computers connected to the Internet - braille display to each computer Software: Operation system: Windows 98 or XP (English) Internet Browser: Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher (English) Screen-reader: Jaws for Windows version 5.1
