Name of W/S: Email (HP workshop) Workshop leader: Svatoslav Ondra Workshop leader background: Svatoslav has 6 years of teaching the IT technology for the blind and partially sighted. He led IT courses and was consultant of special IT at Czech Blind United Organisation. Now he works at Blind & Partially Sighted Students Support Centre of Brno University where he leads lessons of special IT for visually impaired university students. Country: Czech Republic Email: ondra@ics.muni.cz Description: The workshop will guide and explain students their first steps in working with Internet (E-mail as basic Internet service). The workshop will explain what E-mail communication is, its possibilities and how to use E-mail software. Aims: Students should understand E-mail as the basic application of Internet. They will get acknowledge what an e-mail message is, they should be able to receive and send a message, read and write it. The terms like "e-mail address, subject, attachment, mail box" will be explained. Students will learn to navigate Outlook Express basicly. W/S plan: - introduction to e-mail communication principles (when Internet connection is necessary) - what an e-mail message is (its structure) - what it is possible and what it is not in E-mail communication - what Outlook Express is and its basic navigation - how to receive and read messages - how to compose and send messages - other ways of composing messages - attachment (saving and inserting) Students pre-requests: The students should be basicly experienced in Windows - working with basic Windows applications. They should have knowledges of the principles of Windows environment with JAWS and braille display (braille reading knowledge is expected, of course).
