Country: Czech Republic Co-tutors (if needed) Description: The main task of this workshop is to show visually impaired students where they may find helpful dictionaries and other language tools on the Internet. The participants will learn how to use Internet dictionaries not only from the technical point of view, but also from the linguistic one. Week: first week Target group: both in separated groups Type of Workshop: hands on Aims/Objectives: After the completion of this course the students will know resources which may help to solve their language problems. They would be able to use those tools in practice. Workshop plan: 1. Introduction: How may the Internet help to find unknown words and their definition or translation. 2. Getting know some of the chosen Internet dictionaries. The structure, operating. 3. Getting know the structure of a headword. 4. Practical tasks. Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Internet Explorer, JAWS, or a magnifier (ZoomTEXT, Magic). needed Hardware: PCs with Internet connection, braille displays Software requirements: Windows 98/2000, JAWS, magnifier Specific Notes: Not really suitable for English native speakers
