SS12 Code for a cause
The SS12 programming contest is part of the Project:Possibility (P:P) event series. By this P:P inspires students and introduces them to the possibilities unlocked by accessibility and open source assistive technology.

Create open source software to solve daily life problems of people with disabilities.
Join SS12:EU 2012 May 11 to 13 and succeed in the Czech local round to participate in the international finals.
| WHO? |
University students with knowledge in programming, designing or drafting applications are invited to register alone or in groups. You will be arranged in teams consisting of 5-6 students. Each team will be supported by a mentor. |

| WHAT? |
Your team wilI have 36 hours to work on a creative and user friendly solution to a problem in the everyday life of a disabled person. Each team will get one task from a list published in advance. The task will be selected by the jury. The SS12 board is at the moment discussing projects to be offered during the first European national contests. The teams will be provided with a list of potential projects one week before the contest itself takes place. The teams will know their concrete project one day before the contest starts. | WHERE? |
The event will be organized by the Teiresias Centre in its location. Each participating team will get a separate room equipped with internet connection and technical support. Drinks and snacks will be available.

| WHY? |
You can compare your solution with that of the other teams and learn about other approaches. The local winning team will be awarded a certificate and a surprise gift from our partner iStyle. Furthermore, the winning team will be sent to Linz to participate in the finals of SS12:EU at the ICCHP conference on July 11–13. |
Judges provide feedback to the students based on the following criteria:
- challenge Factor (How did the team face the challenges their prompt provided and any others they faced during coding?)
- innovation (How innovative is the team's solution to the problem?)
- usability (Is the implementation something that the intended audience could use well?)
- documentation and maintainability (Is documentation available? Is the system structured in a way that allows others to continue working on it?)
- overall presentation quality (Was the pitch for the project clear, concise, professional and easy to understand?)
