Project Summary

Project Aims: The project will create a module of pedagogical-psychological and information technology services to be connected to all the existing accredited programmes at the universities involved. Application of the module will provide accessibility of these programmes to persons with sensory impairment not affecting intellectual or mental capacity. The module encompasses the definition of standards necessary for communication with persons with special needs, which enables the scholarly and scientific work to rely on certain general principles while maintaining individual approach to each specially communicating student; and training of applicants in the field of tertiary education (as well as university teachers) in communication based on these standards.

Project Output: The project finished in 2007. Among its concrete outputs are primarily public e-learning courses in special information technologies, mathematics, Czech and English, based on the aforementioned standards. Related outputs will include an electronic Czech Sign Language dictionary of terminology (for the fields of mathematics and information technology), a voice analysis tool for the support of the hearing impaired (spontaneous speech recognition with a large vocabulary for the visualisation of spoken text) and a supplementary haptic software for the work of the blind in fields utilizing symbolic notation (mathematical texts).

E-learning courses originated in the project in the years 2006–2007
